The partner is as important to the patient’s recovery as the doctors are.
Why? Because the patient’s attitude is one of her most important healing
factors, and that attitude is directly affected by her partner. A supportive,
loving, stress-free environment is critical to fostering a better
attitude.
It’s hard enough to be a cancer patient; imagine how much harder it
would be if she had to worry about buying food and feeding the family, filling
prescriptions, scheduling appointments and getting to them, etc.
The more the partner can do to help, the less stress on the patient. Less
stress means a better attitude and more energy applied to recovery and healing.

"It was her job to get better. It was my job to do everything
else."
~ Dave Balch
"He was so wonderful to me; I don’t know what I would have done
without him."

Who is helping the partners?
Lois Lane was falling from a tall building when Superman swooped down and
caught her in mid-air. "Don’t worry," he said. "I’ve got
you!" Lois looked at him incredulously. "You’ve got me… but who’s
got you?"
So it is with partners of cancer patients. They want to rush to the rescue
and say, "Don’t worry, I’ve got you!"… but who’s
"got" them? Who’s supporting them?
Dave Balch is.
Mark Twain said, "Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does
anything about it." Many people told Dave that they knew the partner is
just as affected as the patient, but there wasn’t much information available.
Until now.
Cancer for Two
is
"just what the doctor ordered"
for cancer patients and their partners!
“I
used to be terrified of breast cancer, but after watching how you
handled it I’m not so afraid any more.”
